Your Group Leader is a huge part of what makes your adventure so special. From sharing personal recommendations and bringing everyone together to being there when you need them, it’s often the little things that make the biggest difference!
And what better way to say thank you than with a little surprise at the end of your trip?
How Much Should You Tip Your Group Leader?
If you feel your Group Leader has done a great job, we recommend tipping £30 per person, with £3–£4 per day as a helpful guideline.
A great Group Leader can make all the difference to your adventure. From creating a welcoming atmosphere and bringing the group together to sharing helpful advice and keeping spirits high, their contribution helps turn a great trip into an unforgettable one. Tipping is a thoughtful way to recognise their efforts and show your appreciation for a job well done.
Here are five thoughtful ways to surprise them!
1. The Secret Group Collection 🙌🏼
A classic for a reason! Get everyone together towards the end of your trip and organise a secret collection.
Have one person collect everyone’s contributions, pop them into an envelope and surprise your Group Leader on the final day.
Top tip: Keep it a secret! The best surprises are the ones they don’t see coming.
2. The Thank You Card ✉️
Sometimes the little personal touches mean the most.
Grab a postcard from somewhere you’ve visited, get everyone to write a short message and tuck your tips inside.
It’s a lovely way to give your Group Leader something they’ll remember long after you’ve all headed home.
3. The Farewell Dinner Surprise 🥂
Your final group dinner is the perfect opportunity to make a little moment of it.
Get someone to say a few words, share a couple of funny memories from the trip and present your Group Leader with a group tip. Bonus points if you manage to make them emotional!
4. The Group Photo Surprise 📸
You’ve probably taken hundreds of photos together, so why not turn one into a special keepsake?
Pick a photo from the trip, get it printed and ask everyone to write a little message on the back. You could even get the photo printed onto a T-shirt for something a little different!
Present it to your Group Leader alongside the group’s tip for a surprise they’ll treasure long after the adventure ends.
Top tip: Choose a group photo or one that represents a special moment on the trip for an extra personal touch!
5. The Personal Thank You 🙏🏼
Not every surprise needs to involve the whole group.
If your Group Leader has gone the extra mile for you, find a quiet moment towards the end of your trip to thank them personally.
A few kind words alongside your tip can mean the world.
A Little Thank You Goes a Long Way! 💕
Your Group Leader puts a lot of energy, care and enthusiasm into making your adventure one to remember.
Whether you organise a big group surprise or keep things simple, tipping is a wonderful way to show your appreciation for a job well done.
After all, the places are incredible, but it’s the people who make the memories!
