Itinerary

Negombo: Day 1

We’ll pick you up from the airport, get you checked in and introduce you to your new travel family. Why not take a wander down to the beach or squeeze in a cheeky nap before we head out for dinner and drinks on our first evening together. The following morning, there is no better way to start exploring the diversity of Sri Lanka’s culture than jumping into Tuk Tuks for a local tour around Negombo!

Dambulla: Day 2-3

Time to hit the road and make our way to Dambulla. Here we’ll explore the ancient golden cave temple and take in the most incredible 360 degree views of the iconic Lions Rock, Sigiriya. Let us show you the real Sri Lanka as we cruise further into the countryside for an authentic village experience. We’ll introduce you to our local friends and finish the day with a secret evening experience that we don’t plan to share with anyone other than you guys.

Kandy: Day 4

Wake up, and say goodbye to our beautiful Dambulla mango orchard retreat and let’s head to Kandy. We stop for lunch in one of our favourite spots before enjoying some free time to explore Sri Lanka’s second largest city. We’ll finish the day visiting the sacred Temple of the Tooth for the evening ceremony before heading out for dinner & drinks!

Ella: Day 5-6

Ready for an adventure in the breathtaking mountains of Sri Lanka? We’ll be learning how to pick and make our very own tea before catching the famous blue train to the spectacular hill town of Ella, sharing the experience with fellow travellers and locals. Enjoy free time during the day and let’s grab a beer or two in the evening, but maybe not too many…we have a couple of epic walks up our sleeves with views that never fail to impress, including the incredible Little Adam’s Peak!

Udawalawe National Park: Day 7

At the top of everyone's bucket list is observing some of this planet's most incredible animals. So how does a safari through the jungle searching for hundreds of free roaming elephants sound? After spending the night in our beautiful glamping style bungalows in the heart of Udawalawe National Park, we’ll hop into open top jeeps and go on the lookout not only for elephants, but crocodiles, monkeys, water buffaloes and many more animals wandering wild in the National Park.

Mirissa & Weligama: Day 8-9

You’ve experienced the culture, you’ve explored the mountains and now it’s time for you to kick back and embrace the chilled out beach vibes of the south. Spend your morning sipping coffee and soaking up the sun on Mirissa beach before we take a short trip along the coast to Weligama for our surf lesson. Whether it’s your first time or not, our super cool local friends will have you riding on the waves in no time!

Unawatuna & Galle: 10-12

From one beautiful beach town to another, it’s time to head further down the coast and explore the local area of Unawatuna. We’ll go snorkelling in the shallow waters with giant sea turtles and swing from palm trees for that perfect Instagram shot. Leave before introducing you to Galle? No chance! Let's wander the quirky streets of this Dutch Fortress, pick up those last minute souvenirs and get involved with the locals playing cricket. It’s the perfect place to enjoy our final sunset together and end an epic trip with dinner and drinks!

Before the Trip

Aim to Arrive Early

We always suggest arriving a day or 2 early to allow extra time to recover from that long flight. Of course it’s not essential but we have a bunch of ideas to spend that extra time, whether it’s wandering around, day trips or overnight adventures. We’ll also hook you up with other early arrivals to give you someone to hangout with.

Your Arrival Details

Once you’ve booked your flights, head to the Check In Area and update your arrival details. This will help us plan for your arrival and so that we can be waiting for you when you arrive.

Travel Insurance & Visa

It’s super important that you get yourself covered for your trip with us. It’s not expensive and certainly does give you and your loved ones peace of mind. Be sure to check any visa restrictions before you leave. If you’re unsure then let us know and we will do our best to help.

When I Arrive

Your Airport Pick Up

No matter what time you arrive, we will always be there to pick you up. All our trips include airport pick ups so be sure to update your arrivals details through the Check In Area.

What time to arrive on Day 1

We always recommend arriving earlier rather than later on Day 1. This gives you time to nap, freshen up and recover from that flight. In the evening we will head out for dinner and drinks with the group.

Pre-Night Accommodation

You can add extra nights accommodation at the time of booking or by letting us know in the DM’s. We will get you booked in at the accommodation where we start to save any unnecessary moving around.

After the Trip

Getting Back to the Airport

If you want to be super organised, at the final stages of booking your trip, you can select the ‘Return Airport Transfer’ option. Whether it will be a taxi, ferry or a domestic flight we will have you safely back to the airport. If you just want to sort it whilst you’re there then your Group Leader will help you arrange your transport back to the airport after the trip.

Onward Travel

Don’t worry... you won’t be left on your own after the trip finishes. Some people are just on a short break from work and others are on a slightly longer backpacking adventure. Either way your Group Leader will help you plan anything from a return airport transfer to giving you a bunch of awesome ideas for the rest of your time in South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Extra Nights Accommodation

Looking to stay a little longer after the trip and need accommodation ideas? Or fancy extending your stay at our final stop? Let us know early and we can try our best to extend your stay so that you don’t have to worry!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I come alone?

Yes, absolutely. It’s very common for us to get solo travellers on our trips. As soon as you land in Sri Lanka we will pick you up and introduce you to the other group members. It’s a great way to make new friends and share the adventure with like minded travellers.

Can I contact other people who have booked onto the same tour as me?

You sure can! Travelling is about meeting new people and sharing the adventure. We have a Facebook Group ‘The Feel Free Family’ where you can get chatting to other group members that have booked or others like you looking to book! Click HERE to join the group 🙂

Is it safe to travel Sri Lanka?

The answer is pretty simple… yes! Sri Lanka is a very safe country to visit for both male and female travellers. You’ll often hear people who have travelled Sri Lanka, including ourselves, referring to the local people as some of the most genuine and friendly people you’ll ever meet. Travelling in numbers is always recommended rather than going alone.

What’s included in my Sri Lanka tour?

Check out ‘The Details’ tab for a breakdown…but all accommodation, trips & activities, local guides & western group leader, transport and a bunch of meals are included. You only need to sort your flights to & from Sri Lanka, get travel insurance and bring some spending money!

How much spending money do I need?

You don’t need much at all considering almost everything is included! We suggest no less than £300 to be safe…some people spend less and some more, it really depends on your spending habits. If you love shopping or prone to a few more big nights than the average person you could spend more. You can spend far less if you are tight with your budget but this kind of average works well for most.

Are flights to Sri Lanka included in the price?

International flights to & from Sri Lanka are not included in the tour price. We can definitely help when it comes to planning flights, so if you are unsure then drop us a message and we can help. We’ll be at the airport to meet you when you land and we offer return airport transfers if you want to go down the hassle free approach. This can all be selected during the booking process.

Which Airport to Arrive

When you arrive in Sri Lanka you should land in CMB (Bandaranaike International). One of the crew will be waiting with a big smile to get you checked into our accommodation in Negombo, only a short drive from the airport.

Is This For You?

If spotting a wild elephant on safari is on your travel bucket list and the thought of learning how to surf gets you excited… then this 12 day Sri Lanka trip is definitely the one for you! Most people travel solo or others bring a friend, either way by the end of this adventure you’ll have a bunch of new buddies for life.
