The Australian working holiday visa is the gift that keeps on giving. If you’ve always wanted to travel but set that aside to focus on a career, then this is the answer you’ve been waiting for… just do it in Australia! If money is holding you back from applying for that Working Holiday Visa, get your head in the game and start saving. Earn those funds you need to make the epic trip along the legendary Aussie East Coast a reality… it doesn’t get much better than that!

The road to Australia is one of documents, paperwork and waiting, and is it really worth that effort? Absolutely! I’ve never been more assured and confident in saying that you will absolutely not regret this decision. You should be bursting with excitement to go and fill out that paperwork! The ‘Land Down Under’ is right in front of you bursting with opportunity & adventure… you’d be a fool not to grab it with both hands 🇦🇺

How do you actually get your visa?

If you’re anything like me then you’ve probably spent days sitting at your work desk, or in class, daydreaming of what a Working Holiday in Australia looks like. It’s always been very high up on my bucket list, and rightly so. You’ve probably pictured looking out over Byron Bay, snorkelling the Great Barrier reef or imagined how it feels to have the white sands of the Whitsundays on the bottom of your feet. The time has come to make those dreams a reality, and we’re here to hold your hand and help make it happen!

Here is the process in 4 easy steps:

  • Step 1 – Get your covid vaccines, and boosters if possible (boosters aren’t yet mandatory but you’ve come this far, why not round it off).
  • Step 2 – Create an Immi account and run through the application process, providing copies of all the documents they ask for (Passport, bank statements, birth certificates etc…)
  • Step 3 – Pay the $495AUD
  • Step 4 – Pour yourself a drink and wait for the good news!

As long as you’ve answered everything truthfully and completed all that has been asked of you, then you will have nothing to worry about… you’ll be throwing that ‘shrimp on the barbie’ in no time! 🦐

Added Insights/Supporting Documents

Bank statements are required to show that you have the ability to support yourself, and pay for a flight home if necessary. With this in mind you are expected to show proof of funds, which is at least $5,000AUD and the money for a flight, or proof of a pre-booked return flight in addition to this (we’ve heard many people get approved without $5,000 AUD but this is what the policy states).

Other additional supporting documents may be requested such as character references, criminal records and medical examinations.

Arriving into Australia

While the above hasn’t changed a great deal for working holidaymakers, what has changed since COVID is the procedure for arriving into Australia. This does get a little confusing, as many of the different states in Australia have their own requirements for international arrivals… but as always we’ve got you covered!!

What’s the same for all states?

  • Covid vaccines before arrival are mandatory, as mentioned earlier.
  • You must have either a negative PCR test within 72hrs of departure or a negative antigen test (taken within the presence of an approved medical professional) within 24hrs of departure.

Depending on which airport you decide to fly into determines your next steps. The Australian Government has made it very clear that the rules can change at a moment’s notice so please remember to check the Oz Home Affairs Website often to allow you to keep on top of things. If you need more state-specific information then you can find that here

Yes, things are a little different and travel is more admin heavy than it ever has been in the past, but it’s not made it any less worthwhile. The ability to experience everything Australia has to offer, without putting any career aspirations on hold and funding your trip is an amazing opportunity.  After all… it’s not really that much of a headache… it’s just a few extra online forms in exchange for living out those daydreams you’ve spent imagining all this time 😃
