Yes, that’s right, fully vaccinated Brits from the 19th July 2021 can travel to Amber list destinations throughout the world without the need to quarantine on return to the UK. The latest news from the UK government included a host of restrictions being lifted including the introduction of quarantine-free travel.
Currently, anyone returning to the UK from an Amber list country is required to self isolate for the first 10 days. Although the traffic light system will stay in place, the government has announced a full relaxation of COVID measures to reinstate normality! #FINDYOURFREEDOM Boris!
Quarantine-free travel… so what’s the catch?
The truth is there really is no catch! Other than the fact that this relaxation of travel restrictions is only available to those individuals that have had BOTH does of an NHS approved vaccine. You will be required to wait 14 days from the point of receiving your 2nd dose before you can travel but you’ll be FREE to travel with little to no restrictions (to amber & green list countries).

So whats next? When can we go?
As most of you already know a number of our destinations are on the Amber list with Australia already qualifying as a Green list destination. With that said a number of these destinations still have entry restrictions in place – Thailand has recently introduced relaxed entry through the ‘Sandbox’ program, Sri Lanka is now accepting double vaccinated travellers with no quarantine on arrival and Vietnam looks to be reducing its mandatory quarantine period from 21 days to 7 (yet to be confirmed).
The future of travel looks stronger than ever with a strong ray of light coming from the end of this long dark tunnel of COVID that we have all endured the last 18 months. Quarantine-free travel will pave the way to normality in the not so distant future.

What if I still need a Pre-Departure test?
As the threat of COVID-19 is still prevalent across the world, Pre-Departure testings will continue to take place. These tests are becoming more and more affordable with the government providing a list of over 400 providers on the Gov Website. These tests range in price and begin at £2.49, with the majority being around £50-£100.
What more do I need to know?
- UK travellers that are not already vaccinated should consider the current traffic light system when travelling abroad and will be required to self isolate on return to the UK.
- You should check on the FCDO website for upto date information regarding entry requirments at your final destination when travel planning.
- On returning to the UK all double vaccinated travellers will no longer be required to complete the day 2 & day 8 PCR tests. For all non-vaccinated travellers this will stay in place.
- There are 2 different ways to prove your vaccination status – 1. via the NHS website or the NHS app 2. You can contact 119 and request an ‘NHS Covid Pass’. It’s important to consider that option 2 is an offical NHS letter and can take 5 working days to process.
Naturally, we are SUPER EXCITED for what the future holds for travel and the end of the global pandemic caused by COVID-19. As the vaccine rollout continues to gain momentum through the globe we would expect frequent updates on borders re-opening.
