The south of Thailand is one of the best places in the world, and there are so many things to do in Krabi, in particular, that you’ll never want to leave.

Krabi is full of great beaches, adrenaline-junkie dream activities and a lively night scene. There really is something for everyone, and it’s a must-visit location while travelling around Thailand.

And if you’re planning a trip to Krabi, you’ve come to the right place. As Thailand travel experts, we know all of the best things to see and do while visiting the province, and we’ll go through them in this post..

So let’s get into it!

Things To Do In Krabi

Krabi is a province in southern Thailand and is a travel hub for many travellers moving around the country’s islands, but it also has its own amazing spots to visit. Here are 17 things you should consider doing while staying in Krabi Town, Ao Nang, Railay Beach, or anywhere else in Krabi.

1. Railay Beach & Rock Climbing

The number one must-do thing in Krabi is to visit Railay Beach. It’s a secluded, paradise-like spot that is only accessible by boat, but it is absolutely worth it!

The best way to reach it is by a long-tail boat from Ao Nang or Krabi Town. The smooth journey past the beautiful white rock formations is a treat in itself, but Railay Beach is definitely the star of the show.

Once there, you can relax on the soft sands and take in the views or try rock climbing, which Railay is famous for – climbers even come from all over the world to test their skills on the iconic limestone walls.

2. Get a Thai Massage (on the beach!)

Thai massages are a must-have experience for every traveller, especially after a particularly long day of exploring.

They’re cheap, relaxing and perfect for when you have weary muscles. Most people opt for a traditional back massage, especially if they’ve been hauling around a heavy backpack, but you can also opt for head and limb massages.

You can find massage parlours all over Krabi, but going for one on the beach definitely takes the experience to another level!

3. Hike Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Sua)

The Tiger Cave Temple is the number one attraction on many people’s recommendations of things to do in Krabi, and it’s easy to see why.

It’s a bit of a workout with 1,260 steps up to the top of the cliff which it sits on, but the panoramic views at the top are 100% worth it, with miles of lush jungle and mountains to see.

Make sure you go early to avoid the worst of the heat, and bring plenty of water. Watch out for the cheeky monkeys along the way that may try to steal your treats!

4. Visit Krabi Night Market

Krabi Night Market is the perfect place to visit when the sun goes down. It’s a very lively spot with food stalls, souvenirs and even live music.

The night market is the perfect place to sample traditional Thai street food like satay dishes, mango sticky rice and pad Thai for just a few baht.

If you’re looking to fill your belly on a budget or want to experience more of the local culture, it’s a great place to spend an evening or two.

5. Watch the Sunset from Ao Nang Beach

Sunsets are no joke in southern Thailand, with the sky transforming into colours you never even thought possible, they’re like something straight out of a dream.

Ao Nang Beach is one of the best places to head to take in the views of the sun dipping behind the horizon.

Grab a fresh drink, lie back on the sand and watch the sky catch fire. And with plenty of great restaurants and bars nearby, it’s easy to extend your evening.

6. See a Muay Thai Fight

Muay Thai fight nights are popular attractions for travellers in Krabi, especially on Thursdays. Ao Nang has a stadium where you can watch matches, complete with traditional music and crazy crowds.

Heading to a Muay Thai match is one of the best ways to experience Thai culture and support local fighters, with matches ranging from juniors to professionals.

It’s also a great introduction to the sport and can give you an idea if you’d like to try a class out for yourself.

7. Visit Phra Nang Beach

Just a short walk or a quick boat ride away from Railay East, Phra Nang Beach is often hailed as one of Thailand’s most beautiful coastal spots.

And after you visit for yourself, you’ll understand why.

The crystal-clear water, the soft white sand, the amazing cliffs, it’s so pretty. It’s the perfect place for sunbathing, swimming, and just enjoying life.

8. Take a Day Trip

Krabi is the perfect base for day trips. Popular options include the tours of the Four Islands, James Bond Island, or even Koh Lanta if you’re up early.

You can easily book a long-tail or speedboat tour to so many different places and spend the day island hopping, snorkelling, and soaking up the sun.

Some other popular day trip options include Thung Teao Forest Natural Park and the Hong Islands. The Emerald and Blue Pools in the Thung Teao Forest Natural Park are the perfect freshwater springs for a refreshing dip within the dense rainforest.

Meanwhile, the Hong Islands are known for white sandy beaches and crystal clear lagoons – perfect for kayaking and snorkelling. These islands are part of a national park, so there is an entrance fee, but it’s worth every penny for the views.

Top Tip: If you book more than one tour at once, travel agents will often give you a discount.

9. Get Your Nails Done

While it’s probably not what you picture when you imagine yourself in Thailand, it’s actually a great place for beauty treatments!

Treating yourself to a manicure or pedicure at one of Krabi’s many salons is a great way to wind down and keep yourself looking holiday-ready on your Instagram.

Whether you want something simple or a full set of island-themed acrylics, it’s super affordable and a great way to pamper yourself between adventures.

10. Walk Along the Monkey Trail

The Monkey Trail is a scenic little path that links Ao Nang to Pai Plong Beach. It’s short but involves climbing some steep wooden steps, and yes, there are plenty of monkeys!

They’re completely wild and roam freely through the trees in the area, but they usually sit near the paths to pick up scraps from humans.

Make sure to keep a safe distance from them and hold onto your belongings as they can be pretty mischievous!

11. Rent a Kayak or Paddleboard

By now, you might have gathered that most of Krabi’s best activities involve the ocean.

Renting a kayak or paddleboard while in Krabi to explore the calm coastal waters is a great way to discover the natural beauty of the area.

It’s a peaceful way to soak in the views at your own pace and visit places that you might otherwise not go to.

12. Go Snorkelling

And you can combine kayaking or paddleboarding with getting into the water and snorkelling.

Snorkelling in Krabi is a must to discover the marine life lurking beneath the surface. The reefs around the islands are home to clownfish, parrotfish, and even the occasional reef shark.

Don’t worry if you’ve never snorkelled before – many tours provide the equipment and guidance on how to explore the ocean safely.

13. Visit Princess Cave Temple

At the end of Phra Nang Beach, which we mentioned earlier, you’ll find a small cave packed with offerings – this is the Princess Cave (officially known as Tham Phra Nang Nok).

Thai people leave garlands, incense, and some pretty interesting carvings as offerings to a mythical sea princess who is believed to bring luck in fertility.

It’s a pretty unique cultural site that you shouldn’t miss out on while visiting the beach.

14. Try the Indian Food

It might sound surprising, but Krabi has some of the best Indian restaurants we’ve ever visited, thanks to a strong community of immigrants from Nepal and Myanmar.

You’ll find authentic, flavour-packed curries, fresh naan, and delicious biryani, especially in Ao Nang. It’s a spicy and satisfying break from Thai food (if you ever need one!).

15. Hit the Gym or Take a Yoga Class

If you’re into fitness, then there’s no excuse for skipping your routine as Krabi’s got you covered. Heroic Fitness Club in Ao Nang is one of Krabi’s most well-equipped gyms for all kinds of training and has some very friendly staff.

If yoga is more your thing, then Yoga Balance Studio offers great classes for all levels. A class is the perfect way to stretch out after long hikes or boat trips and reclaim your zen. You’ll also find that many hotels offer beach yoga, especially at sunrise.

16. Head Over to Koh Phi Phi for Some Island Hopping

A visit to Krabi (and Thailand in general) isn’t complete without a trip to the Phi Phi Islands

Take a speedboat from Ao Nang or Krabi Town and spend the day exploring sandy beaches, the turquoise blue ocean and incredible underwater life.

The famous Maya Bay has also reopened after a period of time where it was closed to the public, so you can once again visit one of the most famous spots in all of Thailand – no swimming is allowed now, though.

17. Drink Cocktails Out of a Coconut or Pineapple

For something extra fun and tropical, grab a cocktail served in a fresh coconut or pineapple.

You’ll feel like you’re right out of a movie, and we know you’ll not be able to resist a cute Instagram post.

Flame Tree Restaurant in Ao Nang is known for going all out with their tropical drinks, complete with fruit faces made from limes, cherries, and umbrellas. You’ll not forget them in a hurry!

Is Krabi Worth Visiting?

Yes, Krabi is absolutely worth visiting, especially if you’re looking for a tropical escape from the bustling cities. Whether you’re island hopping, hiking to viewpoints, or just enjoying a coconut drink on the beach, the natural beauty here is hard to beat.

But Krabi isn’t just about scenery – it’s also rich in culture and full of things to do. With frequent Muay Thai fights, sacred caves and temples, the region has a unique charm that mixes local tradition with a traveller-friendly atmosphere.

And compared to more commercial areas like Phuket, Krabi still feels a little more relaxed and less built-up.

It’s a great spot for solo travellers, couples, and families alike, with options to suit all budgets. Whether you’re into climbing, kayaking, spa days, or street food taste-testing, Krabi ticks a lot of boxes.

How Many Days in Krabi?

For most travellers, 3-4 days in Krabi is the perfect amount of time. This gives you enough time to relax on the beach, explore the nearby islands, and tick off a few iconic experiences, like hiking Tiger Cave Temple or visiting the Emerald Pool, without feeling rushed.

If you’ve got a couple of extra days, even better. You’ll have time to slow down and maybe squeeze in a Muay Thai fight, a yoga class, or a tour of the Phi Phi Islands.

Longer stays also mean you can work in some downtime between excursions – perfect for enjoying massages, cocktails, or just a few lazy afternoons on the beach.

Best Time to Visit Krabi

The best time to visit Krabi is during the cool, dry season from late November to March. During these months, the weather is warm but not too humid, with plenty of sunshine and calm seas, which are ideal for beach days, boat trips, and outdoor activities.

However, it is also high season, so expect more tourists and slightly higher prices, especially around Christmas and New Year.

If you prefer fewer crowds and better deals, the shoulder seasons (April or November) can be a great choice. It’s a little hotter and more humid, but still manageable, and most tours and services are fully running.

The rainy season, from June to October, brings heavier downpours, especially in the afternoons. While some days are still perfectly fine, boat trips and snorkelling tours may be affected by rough seas or cancellations.

That said, it’s the cheapest time to visit, and the green landscapes after a rainstorm can be particularly beautiful.
